Dear friends and fellow beef exhibitors:

I would like for each of you to let us know that you wish to join the new KCCA group. Our organizational meeting is to be held at the Kansas State Fair Junior Show at the time interval between the conclusion of the show and the Grand Drive on Saturday evening. If we can get membership forms out to you all ahead of time, then you can get them to your friends and neighbors and help us to spread the word. ( facebook users, twitters and all those things that Im not good at!) We will pick them up and take dues at the meeting after voting on a dues structure for the coming year.

We currently are in the process of looking at bylaws and directorships as well as district divisions. If you would like to give suggestions, please email or call me anytime and we will take those into consideration.

Currently, we plan to have both a Junior Member Board and an Adult Board but the Junior Members will be in charge of meetings and the basics of the organization with Adults as advisory positions. Leadership development and planning are among our goals for this organization.

Also, sponsors for 2011 competitions are being considered and all suggestions are welcome. We need to visualize a schematic for awards criteria. There are many options to consider. Please write dwn a few suggestions and bring them with you to the meeting or send them in email ahead of time and I will see to it that the items are brought to the group.

Please forward this email to anyone you think may be interested in siging up and also consider the above requests.

I am looking at different models for membership dues also. Suggestions are welcome for that also.

The attached forms may be filled out and returned to me so we have some idea of numbers. If you cant attend the meeting in Hutchinson, just send a reply and let us know your thoughts.

Current considerations for dues are $25 per child and $10 per calf over 1. There are many scales of different types out there but this is one that seems to work in states like ours of about the same sizes. We are starting from scratch and our first couple of years need to establish a growing treasury as well as getting awards out to as many members as possible. Many costs can be cut through the use of electronic media rather than postage but there will still be some ancillary costs that will have to be maintained.

EXAMPLE: One child and one calf = $25 annual dues
One child and two calves = $35 dues
One child and three calves = $45 and so on up.

It is also reasonable I belive for each member to secure one class sponsorship for the year. These would be to help fund year end awards for the organization for all members to compte for. The target amount for these should be within the $150 to $250 range and can be anyone--friend, family, retail store, or whatever. We intend for this group to establish standards within the group to make it possible for each and every child to be competitive for awards.
I would also like to see some catagorical awards, voted on by the junior members themselves for the "Most Improved Showman" for the year and the other things could be "Top hand Junior Ambassador" and "Top hand Senior Ambassador", or something like this to promote the organization as well as just holding competitions. OLDER KIDS HELPING YOUNGER KIDS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

There is also a possibility for a Public Speaking Scholarship program as well as a calf Futurity program. These are all things to be thinking about. Let's all put our heads together and "GIT R DONE" so we are ready to start 2011 out with a bang and let everyone know that KCCA is "BACK IN BUSINESS" and "BETTER THAN EVER" .

As your "Temporary Chairman", I hope that everyone will let me know their thoughts on this program as we all have a common goal in mind---TEACHING LEADERSHIP, COMPETITIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITY to our young people through the best business in the world "BEEF CATTLE"!
